May 6th 2010: Post Mugello
The weekend of the 17th/18th April was my first introduction to VdeV Racing at the Mugello circuit in Italy. It was a 6 hour endurance race and I was sharing the car with Jody Firth in the Team WFR Car (Ligier).
On Saturday the qualifying session began and we came away with a respectable 3rd on the grid against some tough opposition. For the first hour and a half of the race I was under consistant pressure from 4th place Zollinger with the gap staying at less than a second for the entire stint. Jody jumped into the car for the next hour and a half and at the half way mark we were running 2nd. However, just after I had taken over for my second stint fuel issues forced us to retire with a possible victory insight. The weekend was a great experience and the IF Motorsport prepared cars a joy to drive.
Another outing will hopefully be in place for the weekend of the 23rd at Brands Hatch. We won't be racing for anything less than the win!! This will be my first race on home soil since the last round of the LMES in 2008. Be great to see some familiar faces around the paddock.
