November 3rd 2008: A Fitting End to a Great Year at the BRDC Walter Hayes Trophy

Once again the atmosphere at the end of season Formula Ford event was fantastic. The cold and wet of the weekend didn't dampen anybody's spirit and the racing was great as expected. I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with all the Walter Hayes Trophy regulars whilst competing in two different races over the weekend.

Just like 2007 I took part in the main FF1600 event in a Sheshon Racing, Beckett run RF78 Van Diemen. Being 30 years old it was one of the more vintage cars on the grid but I managed to finish 1st in class and 8th overall in the final despite having to come from the back of the last chance race after being knocked off whilst leading the heat.

Last weekend's result combined with the two F3 wins two weeks ago at Hockenheim round up an eventful year in the best possible way. My plans for 2009 are unknown but for now it's back to Cornwall to train, and continue looking at all the options for the approaching season. Updates will be posted as soon as anything is confirmed.

Thanks once again to everybody for your support and also to James, Colin Beckett and the rest of Sheshon Racing for an immensely enjoyable weekend at the WHT.
